This course will lead participants through a gradual process of subtle awareness. Each session will prepare participants for the next stage of the practice. To get the most benefit from this course we recommend a regular daily practice. The first session will start with a general discussion about how meditation can release mental tensions and the benefits of making a commitment to a regular and dedicated practice. This will be followed by a few gentle stretches to loosen the body in preparation for the practise. Each subsequent session will start with a short discussion about how the home practice is going and any issues that arise followed by gentle stretches and meditation.

This course aims to teach the first steps towards a method that leads to the experience of mediation. The first steps towards meditation are to direct awareness inwards towards the workings of the mind.

This meditation course will focus on the practice of Antar Mouna a meditation practice specially designed to eradicate mental chatter and induce calmness in the mind. “When the mind is silent and peaceful it becomes very powerful. It becomes the receptor of bliss and wisdom, a perfect instrument. Life becomes a spontaneous flow and expression of joy. All this arises naturally when the mind is in a state of inner silence. However this inner silence can never arise when there is a continual stream of disturbing thoughts and turbulent emotions. All the inner noise of thoughts and emotions has to be removed before one can experience the soundless sound of inner silence.” Swami Satyananda Saraswati Meditational practices are a way of drawing aside the curtains of the mind and peering inside. They are excellent methods of confronting problems, conflicts, and disturbances that are hidden in the recesses of the mind. Once we face these negative aspects of the mind they automatically drop away and you can become your own therapist. However, this won’t happen overnight - it requires regular and sincere practice, dedication and perseverance to make progress.
